Family Education is starting up

First Communion – All fifth grade students or older students who have not attended class are invited to join for an overview of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Classes will be held on Wednesday’s starting September 3rd and 5:30 pm. First communion Sunday will be October 5th at the 9:15 service.

Confirmation – Classes for 8th and 9th grade student resume on Wednesday, September 3rd. A parent’s meeting will be held that evening at 6:30 in the fellowship hall.

Rally Sunday – Another fun year of Sunday School begins on September 7th from 10:15 – 11:15. The theme this year is “Jesus helps us grow!” Parents can meet their child’s teacher, enjoy a picnic lunch, and play outdoor games.

Worship Services in August

August 10 – Praise Team, send off for a couple members who will be heading to college this fall.

August 17 – Highway 30 will lead the service and sermon. Glen Kopperud will help with the liturgy.

August 18 – No service, Pastor Steve and Lisa are on vacation

August 24 – Mission trip recap – youth will report on their summer mission trip to PA, including special music and videos.

August 25 – Regular Monday evening 5:30 service in the fellowship hall

August 31 and September 1 – Regular Sunday and Monday services where we will wrap up our summer series on the book of Numbers.

Texas Flood Victims Relief

Zion Lutheran Church is collecting gift cards to stores, such as Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowe’s, as well as fast food restaurants to assist those displaced. Gift cards can be sent to: Zion Lutheran Church, 624 Barnett St., Kerrville, TX 78028 OR: Donate to the Texas Flood Disaster Fund. As the body of Christ seeks to care for those impacted by the flooding, we are receiving donations to be used exclusively to respond to these tragic events. Checks may also be sent to LCMC Texas District, PO Box 58, Hondo, TX 78861. Please write “Flood Recovery” on the memo line. And of course: Pray.
